NASA N715NA Augmentor WingJet STOL

NASA's Quiet Short-Haul Research Aircraft, alias C-8A Buffalo, has finally reached the end of its life. It was the second DHC-5 built, being delivered in July 2016 to the USAF as 63-13687. Almost 50 years later and now registered N715NA, it is offered for sale on March 7th, 1966 from its Moffett Field base.

The GSA catalogue entry (although erroneously referring to it as N716NA which had ended up with the Mexican Navy) extols the virtues of this highly modified Buffalo: a new swept, supercritical wing and 4 YF-102 geared, high-bypass-ratio turbofan engines mounted in an "over-the-wing" installation. Upper surface blowing is used to generate high-lift coefficients to provide low approach speeds and steep approach path angles.
